After writing about citizen journalism for 5 full years, from the time when almost no one knew the term - citizen journalism, till now - when it’s inevitable part of the media, we can definitely say that it was an interesting journey.

We had great pleasure of doing 33 email interviews with people who are related to citizen journalism through their work - new projects, websites, programs, applications, webinars, books, training … List is really impressive and long.

They are from all around the world - US, UK, Germany, Italy, Egypt, East Africa, Lebanon, Canada, India, Austria, Australia, Tunisia, Brazil, Ireland and Pakistan.

In almost every interview we liked to ask our interviewees what they think and how do they see citizen journalism in the future.

And all of their visions were true, citizen journalism is built and maintained as a very important part of the reporting today.

In the meantime, some grew and some vanished. In past few days we were checking our Citizen journalism directory and unfortunately encountered that more than 15 citizen journalism blogs and websites are closed. Some due to lack of resources, some due to lack of passion and interest.

But, like in every other sphere of life, new people start new projects. Citizen journalists throughout the world took reporting news on their shoulders. With a great help of social networks like Facebook, Google+, Twitter and more, citizen journalists spread the news and make their voices be heard.

So, we can now watch in the next few years how will citizen journalism develop and in which direction it’ll go. Hopefully forward.
